Question:

I live with a chronic illness that causes me to be in constant pain. How do I live the life of my dreams when I’m in pain and exhausted not to mention broke because most of my money goes to paying for medical bills?

Answer:

Oh honey, I so relate to this situation. I truly do. I’ve lived with multiple chronic illnesses for over 20 years and I know, first hand, how draining, debilitating, depressing and discouraging it can be. There are days I’ve wondered if I can go on. And, in fact, some days I haven’t. Geez, even brushing my teeth has been more than I could handle. And I can tell you I wish I could take away all of that for you.

Simply wave a magic wand and you would be doing cartwheels in the street and living life to the fullest.

I don’t know the details of your situation so I don’t know what what types of healing and support you may have already tried.

I do know I believe in miracles…I’ve experienced them in my life and have seen and read stories of others from around the world. And, although I still have chronic pain, almost daily, I’ve discovered many helping hands and techniques in my journey to a passionately powerful life. And yes, there are still days when I curl up and wonder if I will make it.

Some resources to check into…

I also know I’ve received the best care and most relief from what are, in the United States anyway, considered alternative healing methods. Here are a few things you could look into:

Theta Healing

Bioenenergetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.)

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

The Human Design System

HeartMath®

Afformations®

Essential oils (I know a great consultant…I love her approach AND her oils!)

Chakra Fire

Massage

Meditation

Prayer

Chinese Medicine

Acupunture

Acupressure

Holistic MDs

A few more tips…

Although some of these techniques are done by a trained practitioner, others, such as EFT, Afformations, and Chakra Fire can be studied and practiced without one (and yes, I do loving working with a trained practitioner since they have knowledge I don’t). Check out the EFT website for a ton of no-cost resources you can review, read and use to help yourself.

Although I know it is challenging, I’ve learned that changing my focus…for as many minutes, sometimes even seconds, at a time as I can…is a great starting point for healing. In fact, did you know that 17 seconds of focusing on what you DO want can be enough to start the shift? Start putting the new energetic vibration into play?

Or check your local library for a copy of The Great Little Book of Afformations and The Secret Code of Success by Noah St. John. I find his insights into how the brain works and processes information quite intriguing and have begun using the “questions instead of statements I don’t believe” approach during the past few days. I find that my energy is much better coming from this viewpoint. There is a gynormous Universal Database that does have the answer you’re looking for…if you let go and let that amazing brain of yours run around looking for a way to answer the question you asked. Here are a few samples for you to try from The Little Book of Afformations:

Why am I so healthy?

Why is it so easy to be pain free?

Why does everything in my body operate so perfectly?

Why am I so perfect?

And, one last approach I find helps (and no, I most certainly don’t remember to do this 24/7!), is to practice an Attitude of Gratitude for what IS working well or is pain free or is positive. The more I practice this, the better I feel…and sometimes it is a real stretch to do this. It may be that my little toe doesn’t hurt, or I woke up, or my hair was easy to style or… and the more I look for something to be grateful for, the more I find and the better I feel.

You might enjoy this article I wrote a few weeks ago on living the Attitude of Gratitude: To Change Your Mood, Think Like Dog! (available as both audio and text).

I’m sending healing energy and love your way….

love and light, hugs and blessings

Question:

So if you flip flop back and forth and can’t seem to narrow it down exactly, then what? Just keep up with narrowing it down over and over? Does a light bulb ever pop up and you say WOW THAT’S IT? I have a problem seeing what I want to be realistic….

Answer:

Wonderful question, truly. Thanks for asking it.

Typically, yes, a light bulb will go off and you’ll know you’ve hit pay dirt ‘cuz it will feel right. You’ll get excited, feel like you’ve come home. Like this is where you belong. You’ll get that sense of knowing that defies explanation.

To get there tho’, you must ditch the word “realistic”.

Poof, gone, outta here.

Honestly. Get rid of that word. It has absolutely no place when you’re defining YOUR Kick-Butt Life.

Now that the word “realistic” is gone…what do you want?

What do you dream of? What would you be doing if that word wasn’t around?

In my experience, THAT is the thing that totally jazzes you up and gets your toes tingling. Yes?

Get totally involved with IT being in your life…get all your Beingness involved in IT. Feel IT. See IT. Taste IT. Smell IT. Experience IT.

IT may not show up immediately or may take some planning. AND that comes after getting yourself totally wrapped up in IT being part of your life.

Once you get clear on what IT feels like, deep down in your bones, then ACT. Find something that takes you toward IT, no matter how tiny you perceive the step to be.

I would love to say I can guarantee that simply feeling what you want means IT drops automagically into your life. Poof. IT’s here.

Oh if only that were the way things worked!

I CAN guarantee these things:

IT isn’t possible if you focus on IT being realistic.

IT isn’t possible if you don’t get clear and take ACTION toward your dream.

IT isn’t possible if you don’t open yourself to all the signs, large and small, that show up once you get clear and drop your expectations of where IT comes from or when IT arrives in your life.

Give this a try: give yourself a vacation from being realistic and see what happens next! Whatcha got to lose?

To a life igKnighted by passionately powerful possibilities!

Question:

How can I remember my true soul talents and abilities in order to more easily create pathways for my dreams to become real, and to give to myself while giving to others?

Answer:

Hi there dear one…and thank you for your question! And congratulations for realizing something very important:

that you DO have true talents and abilities.

You’ve taken the first step and that is ever so vital to your journey!

Whether you realize it or not, your true talents and abilities, the gifts you came to share, are usually hiding in plain site, right in front of you, waiting to be recognized.

How can they be hiding in plain site, you ask?

Because we rarely recognize those things that come easily to us as our unique and wonderful gifts. In fact, they are often the things we disregard or have even gotten in trouble for at some point in our lives. For me, this was a constant admonition to “be quiet”, “don’t talk so much”, don’t be so enthusiastic”, “don’t get so excited about x or y or z”.

What is it for you? What is that trait that so draws some to you and drives others nuts? There are some clues that could be hiding in plain sight.

Although there are many different ways to discover your gifts, one of the easiest ones (at least for me!) is to give this exercise a try. I’ll discuss some other ways in future posts.

Before you begin

Before you create start this exercise you’ll need to

Set some time aside for you…quiet time uninterrupted by others , “to dos”, distractions or interruptions
You can do this exercise whether you have 1 minute or a gazillion minutes open in your schedule…what matters is your focus and your intent. You can always add to the list you create later.

Gather some paper (how about a special notebook for these kinds of exercises and ruminations?)

Grab a pen or pencil (maybe even a couple of each…you never know how inspired you’ll be!)

Step-by-step

Clear your mind of any other thoughts or actions
Meditation is great for this…here is the Rainbow Meditation I recorded for my subscribers
TIP: Unless I miss my bet, other thoughts, fears, ideas, or to-dos stop by for a visit. Have another piece of paper handy where you can write those down and promise to deal with them later. Then do so!

Ask to be given insight into your unique talents and abilities (this can be said out loud or in your mind)

Start writing (or “journaling” if you prefer that word)

Write everything that comes up, with no judgment or critique or “shoulds” or “should nots”…whether it is “small” or “large”, write it down, and include

things you loved to do as a child
things you’ve been told to stop doing
things people have told you you do well (even if you don’t think they’re’ “important enough”)
things you love to do now, whether you’re “supposed” to be doing them or not
things people are stunned that you do with such ease
anything else that pops into your mind

Write until you can’t think of anything else to write

Now take a look at your list…

What jumps out as something you have always loved to do?
How could you incorporate that into your day…whether your professional/work life or your personal life?
What would you love to start doing right now?

So often my clients find what touches them by doing this process and doing this exercise is all it takes to get back in touch with something they’ve long forgotten was important to them or that they enjoyed. In fact, many times they find several things that they’ve overlooked in the rush of the day. If you find multiple things that are appealing , why not give the Bubble Sort a try? It is a great way to find what is MOST important to you.

To your success!

love and light, hugs and blessing

We all have fears that keep us trapped in our current circumstances, yes?

OK, maybe I shouldn’t “assume” that is true for everyone and I know it is true for everyone I’ve met (hum, what does that say ’bout me, eh?).

Often those fears are because we’re seeing the big picture, thinking we have to do it ALL right now. Make a big leap, jump into the water with both feet. Take on the world in one big bite.

What if that isn’t true? What if your only job was to take 1 step, 1 little baby step? Wouldn’t that make things easier? Less frightening? Easier to handle and step into?

So often our fears are based on something that is no longer true…a message that was embedded in our brain, in our very cells, a very long time ago. And we haven’t questioned them to see if they’re still true today, when we’re all grown up and no longer reliant on someone else for our very survival.

Several years ago I saw the movie “What About Bob” and laughed ’til I ’bout fell on the floor. I’ve looked at the movie from many different perspectives…and I’ve gotten a whole new perspective by seeing how I can give myself credit for taking chances, moving forward, taking baby steps and celebrating what I HAVE done, instead of dissing what I haven’t done.

Watch this 1:11 minute clip and see if you can find a way to rewrite your viewpoint, your story, about what is happening in your world!

This part of the movie gives me the biggest chuckle every time I watch it…because everything is in how we view it, how we write our story if you will. And dear darlin’ Bob, whom some would consider positively, certifiably, nuts gives himself credit for sailing when many would not. Now isn’t that empowering!

How can you sail today? What baby step can you take toward your Kick-Butt Life? How can you give yourself credit for the many many steps you HAVE taken?

To your success!

love and light, hugs and blessings

Question:

How do I get over feelings of overwhelm, procrastination because I don’t know where to start first? I have all the tools and education I need, yet the fear of tripping up over what I don’t know, holds me back… please help!

Answer:

I totally understand this feeling ‘cuz I’ve been there, still go there!, so many times in my life.

I know you said you have all the tools and education you need…so have you had a nice little chat with your fear? I know it might sound crazy as a loon…and I have seen it work over and over. We often try to force the feelings of overwhelm and procrastination away…not stopping to see what is at the root of those actions (or “non-actions” if you prefer).

What is the fear trying to tell you? Is it “truth” or is it a holdover from the past (whether this life or another, if you believe in past lives, which I do).

Another option to clearing those blocks and false beliefs (I’m not sure I know enough, what if someone finds out I don’t know enough, what if I make a mistake…and on and on it goes), is to look into something like EFT, Theta Healing, and a variety of other methods (many of which I’ll be introducing during my tele-coaching program).

Another technique is to ask the question another way and then let go and let your amazing brain go to work on an answer…

“Why is it so easy to to move forward with ease and grace?”.

or

“What could I do, this moment, that would be a step toward what I DO want?”

Question:

Hi Mama, I heard you talk about getting clarity on what MY Kick-Butt Life looks and feels like. You mentioned something about using a list and then doing a Bubble Sort. Could you tell me more about this?

Answer:

Sure! Let’s start with the first part of this question…creating a Kick-Butt List, since you’ll need this list before you can actually do the Bubble Sort.

One of the keys to living a Kick-Butt Life is to figure out what it is, to define it, as clearly as possible for you. One of the easiest ways I’ve found to do this is called a “Bubble Sort”, so named because as you walk through the process what is most important to you “bubbles” to the top and becomes the number 1 priority in your life, at the time you went through the process. It doesn’t mean it that it remains your number 1 priority forever and ever. And everyone I’ve ever taken through this process (including me) discovers something new about what they really want or reaffirms they’re on the right track.

Great to know, eh?

Most of us (at least in the United States), have done this when we’ve gone to the eye doctor to get our vision checked. Remember the part of the process where the doctor fiddles with some dials and then asks “which is better A or B?”. That is a form of Bubble Sort and with the same result…getting the best prescription for making sure you can see clearly!

So let’s start the process of getting the right prescription for YOUR Kick-Butt Life…This process is essential to helping you take conscious, directed action, instead of unfocused actions that don’t help you create the life of your dreams.

Before you begin

Before you create your Kick-Butt Life List, you’ll need…

10-20 minutes all to yourself
Don’t spend more than 10-20 minutes creating your list. This list is about your dreams, your passions…your heart’s desires, not what your head thinks is possible. The “what” is where we’re focusing for the moment, not the “how”. The “how” will come later, after we’ve worked together to clarify the “what”.

a blank piece of paper (or a special journal for keeping track of your thoughts, ideas and musings?)

pen or pencil
Have fun with this! Write with a favorite pen or maybe use some different colors to create a sense of joy and a sense of adventure.

a quiet place to write, away from distractions and interruptions

Step-by-step

Center yourself in the here-and-now
Feel free to listen to this 3 minute audio Centering Meditation.

Think about the following questions

“What is really important to me?”

“What would I do if there were no rules, no limits, no “shoulds”, no “nothing else”. ONLY what I want to do, be or have?

At the top of your page, write the following sentence:

When I am living my Kick-Butt Life, my ideal life, the life I publicly (or secretly!) dream of, I am___________________________

You can shorten it to “When I’m living my dream life, I am” or write something similar that is aligned with you.

Write your responses until you have at least 10 items OR you’ve been writing for a maximum of 20 minutes

Let your list sit for a while…maybe a few hours or the next day

Do a Bubble Sort

For a short sample, listen in on this 3 minute example

Writing Tip

Write your “be, do, have” statements as individual items so you get the best result from your Bubble Sort. Try to stay away from “and” statements that link a bunch of things you want to be, do or have. Also, write the statements as if they are happening right now, are in your life right now. So, for example:

Instead of “I am traveling the world, first class, with my best friend and visiting great historic spots.”

Write

“I am traveling the world.”

The remaining statements can be used to get a clearer picture of what your Kick-Butt Life is like…and writing them this way helps you do a more accurate comparison.

Till the next time (when we’ll discuss how to do the Bubble Sort)…

love and light, hugs and blessings

Question:

I have a number of things I want to do, how do I know which one to pick?

Answer:

Whoo Hoo!!!!!!!! So great to hear that you have a variety of interests (even if it does leave you feeling like you don’t know where to start). I recommend starting with the Attitude of Gratitude for being an Amazing with choices in front of you. Maybe something like…

“I’m so thankful and grateful I have choices in my life.”

After that, there are many ways to decide which you want to do RIGHT NOW. (And remember, this is about where you are at this moment. As you continue your journey you can always refine or change your choice.)

To figure out which choice is most important at the moment, you could…

Sit back, get quiet and let your inner wisdom share the answer with you. The answer is within you when you listen carefully. (The trick is to actually listen and not negate what comes up as impossible, or silly, or some other “yeah but”.)

Become a conscious listener by starting the day with a reminder to yourself to “actively listen” in to the conversations you have with yourself and others. When you actively listen to those conversations, you will find commonalities that illuminate your current priority.

Ask yourself the question “I wonder what it would be like to know exactly the right thing to do RIGHT NOW?”

Scan the activities you’re participating in, now and in the past. There are clues scattered all through the things you most love to do, those activities that you do EVEN WHEN you’re not being paid or have something else that is on your “should list”.

Use a Bubble Sort to methodically compare one item to another so that what is MOST important to you at this time “bubbles” up to the top.

I’ve used all of these approaches at one time or another during my years as a seeker and have found the Bubble Sort is a VERY effective way to sort through the many options in front of me. It helps you get crystal clear on what action to take by prioritizing what is most important right now.

This method has been so useful to my coaching clients (and to me personally) that I always start the search for a Kick-Butt Life with a Bubble Sort. Together we discover the top 5 priorities and choose action steps based on those priorities. The results of this exercise often surprise my clients…they realize they’re putting their energy and time into something that doesn’t mean much to them and the simple act of prioritizing what IS important helps them take their next step.

The really cool part is that you can do this exercise over and over again to continue refining what you want to do, what is really most important to you, no one else. You can also use the Bubble Sort to get clear on the details of your priorities discovered during the initial Bubble Sort.

Tip:

Partner up with someone to do your Bubble Sort. A friend, mentor or coach can help guide you to the choice that is REALLY top priority for you and help you stay away from the “shoulds” and “oughtas” that tend come up, especially when you’re new to living YOUR version of a life on fire.

For an example of how a Bubble Sort works, check out

Question:

Hey MamaRed, exactly what is this thing you call a ” Kick-Butt Life” anyway?

Answer:

Ah, so glad you asked!

The specifics vary from individual to individual…of course, right? Because we are all unique, all individuals and, even if we find many commonalities among those we might share this journey with, no two Kick-Butt Lives are exactly the same.

My favorite definition came popping out of my mouth on a brief elevator ride while I was attending a training event. A lovely woman sharing the elevator asked me what I did and my response was:

I get to help people create lives that have them leaping out of bed in the morning and leaving skidmarks on their way to get that first cup of coffee (or tea or orange juice, whatever you use to start your day.

So what does that kind of life look like to you? More importantly, what does it feel like to you?

Are you hanging out at the beach, sipping a nummy drink with a cute little umbrella brought to you by the most handsome person possible?

Earning billions and giving away millions to your favorite cause?

Partnered up with the most perfect partner for you?

Learning how to heal people using the healing technique that helped you get healthy?

Switching professions so you’re doing something that fills your heart, your soul AND fills pocketbook?

Raising kids that recognize their Light, their gift, and share that gift with the world?

Speaking to an audience that needs to hear exactly what you have to say?

…or?

What does YOUR perfect life, a life on fire, look like for you? What would you do if you were living the life of your dreams? Who would you be? What would you have?

How can you figure it out when there are so many choices facing us every day? Heck, every moment of every day! Since there are so many choices, you need to sit down and get crystal clear on what your perfect life, your Kick-Butt Life, looks like, is like.

One of the best tools I’ve found (even though I’m horribly goal-a-phobic!) is called a Bubble Sort, which is the topic of another post. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, may your day be igKnighted with passionately powerful possibilities.

Question:

I’ve been focusing on what I want to manifest for what seems like forever. How long does it take to manifest my vision?

Answer:

Truth? I don’t know a specific formula for saying “X will manifest in Y time” and I sure wish I did. Wouldn’t that be ever so awesome?!

I do know my truth is that when I really get honest with myself, I realize there are parts of me that don’t necessarily believe I can have what I want. Whether it is money or the perfect mate or home or a cottage in a nummy, peaceful spot or whatever it is that I’m visualizing at any given time. There is some little voice in my head telling me why I can’t have “it”. And that little voice is the voice of the true energetic vibration surrounding my “it”. And the energetic vibration, contrary to some popular materials, is what really affects what comes into our lives, what we manifest (make true).

And I know there is a part of me wishing that it would “just” happen automagically. And it simply doesn’t seem to happen that way, does it?

Might this be true of where you are at this moment? Are there some “yeah buts” hanging around in that amazing brain of yours?

If so, now is the time to change the way you’re approaching what you want to have in your life.

Yes or yes?

Yes. Because you know the old saying about the definition of insanity, right? It is doing the same old thing and expecting different results.

Here are a few suggestions…

Get clear on what is really your top priority (make sure it isn’t someone else’s though).

Feel what you want, don’t simply try to “think it into being”.

Take action toward what you DO want, even if it seems like it is a small step.

Try an afformation rather than an affirmation.

Partner up with someone who can help you get clear and see things you might not be seeing or thinking of as possibilities.

Check in with yourself and see how you FEEL about the thing you want to manifest. Does it feel possible or impossible? If you don’t feel it is possible, it most certainly isn’t!

Try a technique such as EFT to clear the limiting beliefs or blocks holding you back.

To your success, whatever it may look like to you!
